GET set for Cambos’ Ocean and Earth Teenage Rampage at Town Beach this weekend.
The event is open to all junior and cadet competitors from Port Stephens to Ballina and is part of the Ocean and Earth National Series.
It is great to see Mick Campbell, ASP world tour surfer and Ocean and Earth Team rider, donating his time and expertise and presenting the event – sharing the enjoyment he has of surfing with many future stars.
Mick’s will know doubt be passing on his knowledge and experience of his surfing adventures with the kids, if given the chance.
Together with Ocean and Earth and the experienced Surfing NSW team the event will no doubt be a resounding success for all concerned.
Surfing NSW, with Ocean and Earth, have prepared and organised a professional event for the Port Macquarie area, congratulations must go to Surfing NSW’s events director Peter Hunt and local Ocean and Earth man Hoppy for their effortless work and commitment to running a professional event for the junior surfers of the area.
With an entry field so large there will be many future surfing champions down the beach trying their best to win Cambos’ event.
Two of these potential future stars are Old Bars’ Oscar Scanes and Crescent Heads Ellie Jean Coffey, who surf incredibly well and will no doubt be standouts in their divisions, having had such a good run of form in all events they have surfed this year.
However, Port Macquarie and the Hastings Valley will have many classy surfers trying to win, including local standouts Todd Bourke, Matt Banting, Jack Germain and Emily Clapoudis.
All these surfers have the potential, ability and local knowledge to really make an impact on their respective divisions and take home titles.
The event is slightly different from a normal knock-out competition.
With the emphasis on fun, where surfers compete in three heats and their scores are added together to determine the four finalists in each division.
Entry is free and there are plenty of freebies and giveaways all over the weekend. All spectators are welcome and the weather and swell are looking great for a fun pack surfing weekend.
On the same weekend the Port Macquarie Board Riders will be holding there golf fundraising day at Emerald downs golf course.
Cost for the event is $25 per person, with all funds going to the boardriders club. This entry fee includes the game, drinks and a barbecue at the end of the day, along with the presentation to the lucky winners.
The competition consists of a four-man ambrose event, for tee off time or to enter a team call Emerald Downs Golf Club on 65 826 120.
